Lucinda Brewer was born in Indiana, March 28, 1845, died March 20, 1904, at Gowrie, Iowa, aged 58 years, 11 months and 22 days. She was married to Melvin Anthony in 1863, also to John Heckel in 1878, both husbands being dead. To her first marriage were born three girls and two boys. To her later marriage was born 1 boy. All children are living except two girls who have preceded her. She also has five brothers, three sisters and seventeen grandchildren to mourn her loss.
The deceased has been sick for a long time with cancer of the breast. She has been sick about seven months and during all that time has been very patient. For some time it has been realized that the end was not far off, and the relatives and friends were not surprised. The funeral took place from the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon, and a large crowd was present to pay their last sad rites of respect for their neighbor and friend. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
