Elza Borel Spitzer was the son of Madora Genevra Spaulding and Irving Spitzer. His maternal grandparents were Lyman Spaulding and Olive Malissa Beach.

He married Agnes Corrine Masters on 25 October 1900. Elza was a Spanish American War Veteran.

In 1920 Elza, Agnes and their daughter Eva were living in Koshkoning, Wisconsin. Else was a butcher. In 1940 Elza was living in Fort Atkinson with his second wife, Martha. He was a janitor at the post office.

"FORT ATKINSON — Funeral services for Elza B. Spitzer, 72, who died Thursday at Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hayes Funeral Home, Dr. Raymond B. Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, where the United Spanish-American war Veterans will conduct graveside services.

Born in Fort Atkinson April 2, 1881, Mr. Spitzer was the son of Irving and Dora Spitzer. He was a member of the United Spanish- American War Veterans. Friends may call at the Hayes Funeral Home after 7 o'clock this evening."
