Catherine L. Lowe, 79, of Connellsville, for the last five months was in the loving care of Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Southwest Regional Hospital, Waynesburg. She was born March 4, 1931, in Trotter, a daughter of the late Joseph and Susan (Vozar) Herchko.

She was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School Class of 1949. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, its Christian Mothers and was a member of the VFW Post 21 Ladies Auxiliary. Prior to her retirement, Catherine worked for 37 years as a selector at Anchor Hocking Cap Plant, South Connellsville.

She enjoyed walking and decorating for the holidays. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Oron "Dick" Lowe, who on Oct. 11, 2010, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; her sons, Dennis and Pamela Lowe and their son, Patrick, of Vanderbilt, and Daniel and Ria Lowe and daughter, Sarah, of Bradenton, Fla.; sisters, Mary (Mayme) Speeney, Julie Goretsky, all of Trotter, Helen Hesslou, of Chicago, and Bernadine Lafko and husband, Joe, of Perryopolis; a brother, Edward Herchko, of Connellsville; a sister-in-law, Karen Lowe, of Anchorage, Alaska; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Herchko, Veronica Blanish, Anna Coplin and Stephanie Williams; and three brothers, Albert, Paul and John Herchko.

Catherine's family will receive family and friends from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of her funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at her church, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Dennis Bogusz as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Cemetery, Connellsville. Arrangements by PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., Connellsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Geibel Catholic High School, 611 E. Crawford Ave., Connellsville, PA 15425.
