Sister Irenaeus King, age 93, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Monday, April
17, 2000, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Holy
Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the mass of Christian Burial will
be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, with burial at Holy Family Convent
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Celina King, April 21, 1906, in Cumberland, Wis., daughter
of the late Leon and Virginia Gagner King. She entered the Convent in
1921 and professed her vows in 1924. Sister Irenaeus served as a
homemaker for the Sisters at St. Mary, Rhinelander, St. Mary, Hilbert,
St. Rose, Clintonville, St. Mary, Reedsville, St. Joseph, Kellnersville,
St. Mary, Algoma, St. Andrew, Potosi, St. Francis, Hollandtown, St.
Anthony Neopit, St. Boniface, Manitowoc, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St.
Mary, Brillion, St. Joseph, Rice Lake, St. Mary, Bloomington, Wis., and
St. Benedict, Cambridge, Ohio. She also served as a seamstress at Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc and for the retired Sisters at the
Motherhouse. Since 1994, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health
Center at the Motherhouse. Sister Irenaeus is a member of the
Franciscans Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister,
Elizabeth King, St. Paul, Minn.; other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 3:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
