Funeral services for Sister Mary Carmel Keyzers, age 88, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, who died Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2004, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will the Rev. DePaul Sobotka, O.F.M. with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.

Sr. Mary Carmel Keyzers, age 88, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2004, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. DePaul Sobotka, O.F.M. with burial at
Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Ursula Keyzers was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Kaukauna, Wis.,
daughter of the late Henry and Ursula Corbeille Keyzers. She entered the
Convent in 1929 and professed her vows in 1934.
Sister Mary Carmel earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of
Science Degree in Nursing from The Catholic University of American,
Washington, D.C. Sister Mary Carmel served as an elementary teacher at
St. Joseph, Waukesha, Wis., and St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, Ohio, and as
an instructor/supervisor of obstetrical nursing at God Samaritan Medical
Center, Zanesville, Ohio, Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, Wis., and St.
Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb. She also served as a
registered nurse in St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
After her retirement from active ministry in 1986, she performed various
services at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2002, she has been a
resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, relatives
and friends.
