Sister Marie Therese served as a high school teacher at St. Francis, Hollandtown; St. Joseph, Kellnersville; Holy Family Academy, Manitowoc; Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha; St. Nicholas/Rosecrans High School, Zanesville; St. Mary, Delaware; and St. Benedict High School, Cambridge, Ohio. She also served as a principal and teacher at St. Francis Xavier in Petoskey, Mi. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1987 and she was a resident of St. Rita Health Center since 1992.

Sister Marie Therese Kessler, age 91, a member of the Franciscan Sister
(sic) of Christian Charity, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Holy Family
Convent.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Holy
Family Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev.
Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, with burial to follow at Holy Family Convent
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born April 5, 1909, in Kaukauna, WI, daughter of the late George
and Bertha Wegenke Kessler. Sister Marie Therese earned a bachelor of
Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, and a Master of Arts in
Teaching from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich. She entered
the convent in 1931 and professed her vows in 1934.
Sister Marie Therese served as a high school teacher at St.Francis,
Hollandtown; St. Joseph, Kellnersville; Holy Family Academy, Manitowoc;
Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha; St. Nicholas/Rosecrans High
School, Zanesville; St. Mary, Delaware; and St. Benedict High School,

and sisters-in-law: Arthur and Ruth Kessler, Neenah; and Robert and Mary
Kessler, Kimberly; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
