Mark was quite wealthy - dealt in real estate and manufactured liquor. The Mark Perdue house - on Mark's farm was built in 1824. He lived to be a very old man, the 1880 Census of Franklin County list his age as 96. In The Southeastern Reporter, Vol. 15, page 385 (found in most large courthouses) is a case: Alexander Dillon & others vs. Mark Perdue, Sept 1884. Mark Perdue, a very old man of 96 years - exact age uncertain . . .
The case involved the estate of Nancy Ross, a midwife, who willed to Catherine Dillon, Mark's second wife, a good share of her estate. The Court decided in favor of Mark Perdue.
