Sister Lauretta Kane, age 92, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian charity, died August 28, 2000, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 4,
2000, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian burial will be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, with burial in
Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born September 30, 1907, in Stark, Wis., daughter of the late
Bernard and Cathrine Morgan Kane. Sister Lauretta entered the convent in
1934 and professed her vows in 1937. She earned a Bachelor of Arts
Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Lauretta served as an
elementary teacher, at St. John, Antigo, St. Paul, Manitowoc, Sacred
Heart, Oshkosh, St. Mary, Waukesha, St. Joseph, Green Bay, St. Aloysius,
Kaukauna, SS. Peter & Paul, Kiel, St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, St.
Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio, guardian Angels, West Point, Neb., St.
Willibrord, Chicago, Ill., St. Ann, Menominee, St. Anne, Escanaba,
Mich., and Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Ariz. After her retirement from
the teaching profession, she performed various tasks at Ozanam Home, New
Berlin, St. Philip, Green Bay, Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Holy
Family Conservatory, Manitowoc and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. Since
1994, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 3, 2000, from 4-8 p.m. at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. at
Holy Family Convent Chapel.
