Gwen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission in Lansing, Michigan in 1981 for 18 months.
Gwen loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed traveling and has seen much of the world with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, golf, bowling and fishing. Gwen's family was always very fond of her fried chicken, pumpkin pie and rice pudding.
Gwen is survived by her sons Lyle Porter, Morgan; Duane Porter, Layton; and daughters Brenda (Wes) Ehlers and Kaylene (Richard) Purcell, also of Layton; 20 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Rhea Bodily. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, two daughters-in-law, three granddaughters and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday. January 10, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Lindquists Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the LDS general missionary fund.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
