Norman D. Radican , 77, of Victoria Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:37 p.m. Saturday, May 29, in Hospice House after an extended illness.

Mr. Radican retired from Allied Products in 1988 and also had been employed by Studebaker. He was a World War II Navy veteran who loved gardening, fishing and was very proud of his family. Norm also wintered in Florida for ten years.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1926, in Mishawaka, Ind., to James and Merie (Griffis) Radican . On Jan. 11, 1947, in South Bend, he married the former Marilyn E. Ulbricht, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Karen (Rick McGee) DePaepe of South Bend; four sons, Douglas J. (Kathy) Radican of South Bend, David L. (Barbara) Radican of East Moriches, Long Island, N.Y., Dennis G. (Angela) Radican of South Bend, and Norman D. (Terry) Radican of Adelaide, Australia; 12 grandchildren, Kelsey DePaepe, Christopher DePaepe, Christina Radican , Elizabeth Radican , David Radican , Amy Radican , Kevin Radican , Jennifer Radican , Dennis Radican , Stephen Radican , Jae Radican and Dawn Spitzke; a sister, Marilyn Dvorak of Plymouth, Ind.; and two brothers, John "Jack" (Mary) Radican of Mishawaka and James (Marian) Radican of Boynton Beach, Fla.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosemerie Yoder; and four brothers, Clovis Radican , Roger Radican , Duane "Pete" Radican and Robert Radican .

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 Tuesday, June 1, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the First Brethren Church Building Fund.
