While doing some research among old city directories and other resources, I ran across something that said people used to refer to the Catholic Cemetery (Mater Dolorosa) as "St. Stephen's" if the funeral was held from St. Stephen's Cathedral. Although it confuses us today, back then everyone knew they really meant Mater Dolorosa Cemetery on W. Ninth Street.
