Charles Almond Southard was commander of the George Goodwin post 32 in St. Albans, of the G. A. R. for the state of Maine. He served our country during the Civil War. Charles' second cousin, Belden Southard, was also a commander of the same
G. A. R. Post in St. Albans.

He was also a minister in the Methodist Church.

Charles is mentioned in the Averell, Averill, Avery Family book on page 674 as being "an important man in his state."

A newspaper article written in the "Boston Herald" includes a drawing of Charles Southard. Date of newspaper 24 Feb 1898.

Another sketch of Rev. Southard has been found in the Lewiston Evening Journal dated 7 Dec 1895.
