Michael Lewis Hamner, age 53 died Jan. 11, 2011.

He was born Sept. 6, 1956 at Morgantown, WV, son of the late Russell (Boz) Hamner and Barbara (Fink) Shepard, who survives in Pierce, WV.

Surviving are his step-father Jerry Shepard of Pierce, WV and step-mother Shella Hamner of Thomas, WV.

Four sisters and one brother, Patty Harman and her husband Jim of Yulee, Fl., Pam Shepard of Newport News, VA., Steve Hamner and his wife Karen of Bel Alton, Md., Dawn Jean Hunt of Pierce, WV., and Tracy Hamner of Davis, WV.

Mike had several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He graduated from Mountaineer High School with the Class of 1975.

He was employed at North Point Coal Mines before becoming disabled.

His hobbies included riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and walking along the Blackwater River.

He loved family reunions and enjoyed being with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local charity in his memory.

Family and friends are invited to a gravesite service, Saturday Sept. 29, 2012 at Rosehill Cemetery in Thomas, WV at 2 PM with the Rev. Pat Cassidy officiating.
