In June 1897 it was reported that Mrs. S. McNultyof Long Lake, formerly Nellie Sheridan, is rejoicing over a daughter which came to the McNulty home a few days ago.
On 25 June 1900, the McNultys farmed in Long Lake township. Nellie was caring for their two-year-old son Ralph. On 28 April 1910, the couple and their three children farmed. Oldest son Leo had attended school in the previous year. In January 1920 the McNulty family lived on a farm in Long Lake township. Son Ralph was working out as a farm laborer. Claude and Genevieve had attended school in the previous year.
Nellie died on 12 April 1927 in Long Lake township from a cerebral hemorrhage. Michael's brother Thomas came from Chicago to attend her funeral.
Michael died on 5 March 1950 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. Former Local Resident Dies. Stanely McNulty passed away at the St. Mary's hospital in Grand Rapids Sunday morning, following an extended illness. He was 84 years old.
Born in South Bend, Indiana, he was well known in this region, having lived in Traverse City some 30 years. Retiring a few years ago, he has made his home in Central Lake and Morley before moving to Grand Rapids a year ago.
He leaves to mourn their loss two sons, Ralph of Grand Rapids, Claude of Morley; one daughter, Mrs. Wesley Strause of Chicago, one grandchild.
The Rosary will be recited at the Leonard Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 8:30. Services will be conducted at St. Francis church Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. Fr. Joseph Kobler officiating, with burial in the family lot at Oakwood cemetery.
Michael and Nellie were buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
Michael and Nellie (Sheridan) McNulty were the parents of three children:
i. Leo Ralph McNulty was born on 25 June 1897 in Long Lake township. He registered for the draft on 24 August 1918 while living on Route 2. He was working for Stanley McNulty. Ralph had a slender build, medium height, brown eyes, and brown hair. Ralph lived by himself on a farm in 1930 in Long Lake township. The farm was valued at $4,000. Ralph died on 14 January 1971. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
ii. Claude Stanley McNulty was born on 16 January 1906 in Long Lake township. He died on 1 March 1987 in Bradenton, Florida. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
iii. Genevieve McNulty was born in 1908/1909 in Michigan.
