Laura Ellis Funeral Held – Laura Smithers Ellis, 84, of Robbins, died at the Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville Tuesday, October 8, 1970 after an illness of six weeks. She was the daughters of the late Thomas Smithers and the late Verna B. Buttram Smithers, a member of the Black Creek Baptist Church. Survivors, four daughters, Mrs. Roxie Sims of Robbins, Mrs. Effie Lawhorn of Rugby, Mrs. Viola Vanderpool and Mrs. Fred Sexton both of Knoxville, two sons, Dee Ellis and lotto Ellis both of Robbins, one brother, Joel Smithers, of Robbins, thirteen grandchildren twenty great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Black Creek Baptist Church 2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 1970 with the Rev. Roy Blevins officiating. Burial followed in Cross Roads Cemetery. West Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
