The funeral for Ida Ellingson, 94, of Maddock was held Thurs., July 12 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Minnewaukan. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died July 9, 1990 at the Lake Region Lutheran Home in Devils Lake.

Rev. Wilfred Hanson & Rev. Ervin Overlund officiated. Margaret Toso was organist. Special music was furnished by Henning & Myrtle Jacobson & Harlan& Ethel Helgeson. Pallbearers were Jim Hagen, Steve Hagen, Robert Hagen, Curtis Hanson, John Hagen, John Buckmier, David Holje, Loren Haugen, Gary McCloud & Dennis Hagen. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements.
Ida Petrine Ellingson was born Aug. 28, 1895 at Ridgeway, Iowa, the daughter of Halvor & Caroline Nyaard Skadeland. She was confirmed at St. Olaf Church & received most of her education at Bruflat Academy in Portland & Eldon Township School. At the age of 17 she worked as a nurse in the first Maddock Hospital. She married Elmer Ellingson Jan. 3, 1917 at Ridgeway, Iowa. They farmed in the Ridgeway area until 1919 when they moved to North Dakota & farmed until 1943 when they moved to California where they were employed by the Department of Defense. They moved back to North Dakota in 1946 & farmed until 1952 when they moved to Maddock to manage the Moelier Memorial Home. They managed this until 1967. He died May 19, 1972. She entered the Maddock Memorial Home in 1984 & lived there until 1987 when she entered the Good Samaritan Home in Devils Lake & finally the Lake Region Lutheran Home.

She was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, its WELCA & the Maddock 55 Club.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Norman (Caroline) Haugen of Maddock, Mrs. Patrick (Ella) Kalinowski of Devils Lake & Mrs. Irvin (Anna Mae) Prichard of Maddock; a son, Vernon Ellingson of Minnewaukan; a sister, Netta Hovden of Ridgeway, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; & 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Gustina Helgeson; a brother, Henry Skadeland; & a great-grandchild.
