Son of William Isbell and Ann Dillard Isbell.
Some give his death as 1819. He died shortly before his widow and children moved to Alabama circa 1817-19.
Historical Southern Families by John Bennett Boddie, vol. III, gives descendants.
DAR lists this George B. Isbell with Patriotic Service during the Revolution and assigns him Ancestor Number A209063. He is a distinctly different person from George Isbell (1746-94) of Halifax, listed by DAR as Ancestor # A207466.
The Descendants of Robert Isbell in America (New Haven, CT: Tuttle, Morehouse & Taylor, 1944) by Edna Warren Mason (p.257) infers incorrectly that he was a son of his cousin George Isbell of Halifax who married Mary Daniel and died leaving a son George on his will of 1794. That son George married Mourning Whitlock in Halifax Co. in 1807.
A History Of Halifax County (Virginia) (1924) by Wirt Johnson Carrington, chapter X: Wills.
