Verndale - Bert McAlonen passed away at the Shady Lane Rest Home on Tuesday, February 4th, at the age of 87 years. He was born in the Hewitt territory on August 6, 1876, and came to Verndale when he was 17 years old. He worked as a lumberman, and also for building contractors in this area. He served as village police several years. He was married and had one daughter.
His wife passed away some time ago in Canada, and his daughter several years ago. His son-in-law is living in Idaho. He was buried at Hewitt in the family plot there on Saturday. Messer-Johnson is in charge of arrangements.
