Sister Jarlath Happ, age 86, of Holy Family Convent, died Wednesday, August 26, 1992, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 1992, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, officiating, with burial in Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Mary Catherine Happ on January 15, 1906, in Lindsay, Neb., daughter of the late Edward J. and Dorothy Albracht Happ. She entered the convent in 1923, professing her vows in 1926. She received a B.A. degree from St. Norbert College, DePere; M.A. from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Sister Jarlath served as an elementary school teacher at Antigo, Potosi, Wrightstown, St. Therese, Appleton, Sacred Heart, Manitowoc, St. Philip, Green Bay, Cambridge and Zanesville, Ohio, and taught in high school at West Point, Neb., Ironwood Mich., Zanesville and Steubenville, Ohio, Chicago, Ill., Appleton, Waukesha, and Holy Family Academy Manitowoc. She served as a librarian at the Southern Regional House, Chicago, Ill., Central Catholic, West Point, Neb, and Holy Family High school, Lindsay, Neb. After her retirement from active ministry in 1968, she resided at St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. She is a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Sylvan and Agnes Happ, Grand Island, Neb., Joseph and Ethel Happ, Greeley, Neb., Mrs. Lillie Happe, Greeley, Neb.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mrs. Anne Branner, South Bellevue, Neb., Mrs. Rose Koenig, Primrose, Neb., Elizabeth and Emil Labenz, Spalding, Neb.
Friends may call on Friday, August 28, 1992, from 4-8 p.m. at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday at Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
