Sister Elizabeth Hamrock, age 97, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian
Charity, died on Wednesday evening, Sept. 24, 2008, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1911, in Crabtree, Pa., daughter of the late John and
Elizabeth (Kovalan) Hamrock. She entered the convent in 1927, and professed her
vows in 1930. Sister Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family
College, Manitowoc. Sister Elizabeth served as a teacher at St. Mary, Clarks Mills;
St. Andrew, St. Boniface and Holy Innocents, Manitowoc; St. Therese, Appleton; St.
Joseph, Oneida; St. James, Cooperstown; St. John, Antigo; SS. Peter & Paul, Kiel;
St. Joseph, St. Mary and St. William, Waukesha; St. Joseph, Green Bay; St. Nicholas,
Zanesville, Ohio; St. Mary, Delaware, Ohio; St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, Ohio; SS.
Peter & Paul, Wellston, Ohio; Sacred Heart, Ayrshire, Iowa; St. John, Wellsburg,
W.V.; Guardian Angels, West Point, Neb,; and Holy Name, Escanaba, Mich. After
retiring from the teaching profession in 1989, she performed various services at
St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2001, she had been residing in St. Rita Health
Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian
Charity.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Holy Family
Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the
Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4
to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., at Holy
Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family
with funeral arrangements.
