BARNES, MR. HARRY WILSON, SR. age 78, of Birmingham died Thursday, December 2, 1993. He played baseball in the National Negro League with the Birmingham Black Barons, the Memphis Red Sox, the Chattanooga Choo-Choos, and the Atlanta Crackers. He was a member of Jeffries Memorial Christian Church where he was a Deacon and a member of the Ushers Board. Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 12:00 p.m. at Jeffries Memorial Christian Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Bushelon Funeral Home directing. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Erma Barnes; daughters, Mrs. Gwenolyn Cann, Mrs. Leanna Williamson, Mrs. Patricia Britt, all of California, Mrs. Harriett Fortson of New York, Mrs. Joan Carter of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Barbara Mosley of Birmingham; sons, Mr. Harry Wilson Barnes, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Wilbert Barnes of California, Mr. Farris Barnes of Mississippi, Edward Barnes of Detroit, Michigan; sister, Mrs. Frances Swain of Birmingham; twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; five son-in-laws; three daughter-in-laws; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
