A resident of the Half Rock community, Mrs. Patricia Batson, 84, passed away at 9:07 PM Monday August 2, 2010 at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO where she had been a patient for the past 3 days.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the Resthaven Mortuary. Burial will be in the South Evans Cemetery located northeast of Tindall, MO. General visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday and a scheduled family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions have been suggested to the South Evans Cemetery.

Mrs. Batson was born on September 28, 1925 the daughter of Albert and Margaret Travis Ricketts. She was married to Martin Batson and they had 9 children whom they raised in Grundy County and spent their entire married lives. After Martin passed away she married Wilbur Batson and they moved to California for several years until Wilbur retired and they returned to Spickard, MO. After Wilbur passed away she moved to her son's farm in the Half Rock community. For many years Mrs. Batson was employed as a cook at the Humphreys school.

She was a member of the South Evans Christian Church.

Mrs. Batson is survived by 4 sons, Jake and wife, Mary Batson of Galt, MO, Tom and his wife, Jan Batson of Eldridge, IA, David and his wife, Pat Batson of Harris, MO and Carl and his wife, Dottie Batson of Trenton, MO; 3 daughters, Lois and her husband, Mike Buttenob of Mansfield, MO, Linda and her husband, Bill Bonzer of Rolla, MO and Brenda and her husband, Richard Johnson of Spickard, MO; a sister, Alberta and her husband, Ronald Wolfe of Sun City, AZ; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, a son, Don Batson, a daughter, Sandra Ellis, sisters, Mabel Duncan, Ruby Kincade, an infant sister and a brother, Orville Ricketts.
