Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., August 8, at Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home in Grand Island, with Pastor Caryl Ritchey officiating. Burial was in Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska.
John P. Christensen was born September 15, 1905, in Vije, Denmark, the son of Jens and Elsie (Rasmussen) Christensen and came with his parents to the United States in 1915, and settled on a farm near Cushing, Nebraska. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1925. He was employed in the trucking business in Grand Island. In 1952, he was then employed with Gree Mobile Home for 22 years, until he retired in 1972. He married Lillian Luella (Kumm) Suckstorf on Novermber 8, 1967. They lived in Grand Island until 1973, when they moved to Magnet. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #378 of Grand Island.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; one son, Jack D. (Betty) Christensen of Salina, KS; two daughters, Geraldine Baxter of Hayward, CA, and Viola (Ramey) Thomas of Sacramento, CA; one step-son, Donald (Wilma) Suckstorf of York; three step-daughters, Joyce (Keith) Knudsen and Carolyn Kool, both of Bloomfield and Mardell Neal of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Swend (Florence) Christensen of Fremont and Charles (Edith) Christensen and James (Bessie) Christensen, both of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
