Our wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away October 6, 2012 from causes incident to age. She was the last of her ten siblings and wanted to make it to 100. You got very close mom! She was born December 9, 1915 on a farm in Newton, Utah to Eugene and Christina Hogenson Nelson. She grew up farming and working at the beanery in Cache Junction where she met Gilbert H. Kandt, whom she married on April 10, 1939, moving at that time to Salt Lake. He passed away in 1969. She married Leslie Haycock on January 17, 1977. He passed away in 2003.

Mom was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen, was a branch manager for a home jewelry company for many years, and loved bowling. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and showed unconditional love and understanding to all.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Alan) Farr, Gilbert (Bonnie) Kandt, and Dennis Kandt; her grandchildren, Denny (Deja) Kandt, Scott (Mandy) Sofonia, Steve Sofonia, Bryan (Patricia Padilla) Sofonia and step-grandchildren, Robert (Karen) Murdock, Connie (Ron) Kelson, Steve (Maridee) Haycock and Carole Clark, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her step-son, Ronald Lee Kandt.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 So. Redwood Rd., West Jordan. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to graveside services.
