Howard LeRoy Alphonso Day was born August 18, 1940 at Astoria, Oregon to parents, Vincent Parker & Frances Marie (Haeworth) Day. He died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 72.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1960. He went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in the 1960's and worked as a Timekeeper, Clerk and a Transporter retiring in 2007. He worked part time at the Short Stop (Devin Oil) in Hermiston from 2008 until his death. Howard enjoyed collecting marbles, was an avid yard seller, and loved golfing, kids, antiques, the outdoors, spending time with family & friends.
He is survived by Daughter, Celeste Chandler and her significant other, Tyler Campbell of California; Sons, Nathan Day and Brandon Day and his significant other, Kirshauna Jeanine John all of Arizona; Sisters, Dorothy Davis of Myrtle Point, OR, Patricia Day of California, Charlotte Day of Albany, OR and Margaret Milliern of Tacoma, WA; Brothers, James Day of Scappoose, OR and Robert Day of Camino Island, WA; Grandchildren, Aidyn & Saith Chandler of California, Katrina, Mya Lucy Hazel Day, & Brandon Day Jr. of Arizona; Close special friends, Hank, Ramona & Nico Garnenez.
He was preceded in death by Parents, Vincent & Frances Day; Sisters, Pearl Bittle and Mary Day; Brothers, Lionel & David Day.
Funeral Services with military honors will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Disposition will be by cremation.
