Orville S. "Johnny" Beard, 81, of Green County, Ky., died on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Son of the late Christopher Beard and Willie Bass Beard, he was born in Green County on Jan. 21, 1925. He was a member of Liletown United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and worked maintenance for Green County Schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was married to Jewell Neagle on Jan. 26, 1946. She survives. Survivors also include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathy Beard of Edmonton, Ky.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Phillip Thompson of Glasgow, Ky., and Oletia Carol and Charles Carter of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Chris Thompson of Center, Ky., Todd Beard of Bowling Green, Ky., and Stephanie Thompson and Jeremy Thompson, both of Glasgow; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Shirley of Glasgow and Ashton Thompson of Center; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Conrad Carter; and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, Ky. Joseph Wilcoxson and Bro. Gary Hardin officiated. Burial was in Liletown Cemetery with full military rites. Pallbearers were Phillip Jeffries, Jimmy Wilcoxson, Ricky Thompson, Jeff Eastham, Bendal Bagby and Alan Froggett. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Eastham, Billy Joe Beard, Joe E. Froggett, Bobby Joe Beard and Sammy Froggett.
