Mrs. Sarah Robbins

Sarah C. Evert, daughter of Ann and Jacob Evert was born in Kalamazoo, St. Joe County, Michigan, on September 29, 1866, and passed away in Concordia, Kansas, May 4, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 5 days. She came from Michigan with her parents in a covered wagon in 1878 to Concordia, where the family made their home for 10 years. They moved to a farm south of Simpson where she attended school. On December 29, 1882 she was united in marriage to Charles F. Robbins at Delphos, Kansas, by Rev. George Smith. They joined their hands and hearts in making a home of their own and rearing a family.To this union ten children were born of which seven are still living, Mrs. Ida Ruth, Carthage, Mo.; Mrs. Dollie Rogers, Frank, Charles, Jr., and Roy of Glasco; Ollie of Concordia, and Robert of Scandia. She also leaves to mourn their loss twenty-five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three brothers: Will Evert of Miami, Florida; Ammie of St. Joseph, Missouri; and John of Simpson, besides many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She endured the hardships of pioneer life in the Solomon Valley where she grew to womanhood. Her entire life being spent in the Delphos and Glasco communities. She lived the life of a true Christian and was united with the Methodist church of Glasco where she attended until poor health prevented.
Funeral services were held at the Chaput Funeral Home in Concordia Tuesday at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. John officiating and burial was in the Riverview cemetery at Scandia where Mr. Robbins was laid to rest last November 3.
Pallbearers were Frank Robbins, Robert Robbins, Charles Robbins, Roy Robbins, Wayne Robbins, and Oren Rogers, Jr.
