Lance was spending an afternoon fixing a car with some of his friends at a friend's house a couple of miles away from his own. One of the boys noticed a gun up in the rafters on a shelf. He took it down and started playing with it. Lance said, "Don't aim that gun at me!" Then someone tripped or accidentally bumped the kid with the gun and it went off. It shot Lance in the head. He was dead before the ambulance got there.
