Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Crossroads Church in Lafayette for Aaron Otis Welch, age 49, who passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 in Jena, Louisiana.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Jeff Ables, pastor of Crossroads Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Welch was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro. He was the founder of Cow Island Hunting Club and the Big Camp Hunting Club both in the Basin and also a founder of the Ridge Road Hunting Club in Jena. Mr. Welch enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a parishioner of Crossroads Church in Lafayette.
Survivors include his wife of twenty nine years, Sandra Hayes Welch, of Carencro; his mother the former Annie Chargois; three daughters, Annie Rachel Welch, Allie Elizabeth Welch and Emily Rose Welch, all of Carencro; two brothers, James Gilbert Welch, Jr. and his wife, Debra, and John Douglas Welch and his wife, Brandy Marie Welch, all of Carencro; four sisters, Sarah Welch Butcher of Baton Rouge, Charlene Squires and her husband, Steve, of Lafayette, Maxine Prejean and her husband, Randy, of Carencro and Faye Melancon and her husband, Chris, of Breaux Bridge; and one brother in law, Louis Dupuis, of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Gilbert Welch, Sr.; and one sister, Frances Dupuis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Crossroads Church in Lafayette from 12:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Jared Schoeffler, Ronald Schoeffler, Blake Schoeffler, Stafford Stuart, Jr., Justin Roy and B.J. Hayes. Junior pallbearers will be Keegan Boone and Gabe Liebert. Honorary pallbearers will be James Welch, Jr., John Douglas Welch, Randy Schexnayder and Troy Hayes.
