McLAUGHLIN
Lt. Col. Richard M. McLaughlin. Full military honors were accorded to Lt. Col. Richard M. McLaughlin, a native of Chicago, in San Diego Friday at Holy Cross Cemetery. A veteran of 15 missions as a Command pilot in the European Theater in World War II, he later served with distinction in the Berlin airlift and in Korea. Awarded the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters and two Air Force Commendation Medals among other citations, he became the Base Commander of Gray Air Force Base in Killeen, Texas and last held the position of Deputy Base Commander of the Los Angeles Air Force Station. Born in Chicago in 1918, he enlisted during 1942 and served 27 years of active duty. He leaves his widow, three sons, two brothers and two sisters.
