Alice drowned in the canal when her two children were playing in the water and one seemed to be in trouble. She jumped in to save him (which she did), but she could not swim and drowned in the process.

Please note that Alice is buried at this cemetery, although her marker is no longer there. According to her son, when he went back years later, another person was buried there. It was in a corner area near a fence if I recall correctly.
