J. Jay Ferrin, 88, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012.
He was born October 9, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of John Josiah and Pearl Leone Shaw Ferrin.
Jay served in the Army during World War II in the 86th Fighter Group as a Cryptographer.
He married Jeanne Ashton on March 20, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Jay was a FBI Agent, retiring after 30 years of service. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as Bishop.
Surviving are his wife Jeanne of Farmington; children: Lynn (Jacquee), Mark (Cheryl), Brent (Susan), Denise (Scott) Prince, Teresa (Shawn) Meldrum, Wayne (Margaret), Keith (Julie), 34 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, siblings: Leah Fay (Preston) Evans, Alvin (Elinor) and Calvin (Dian).
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Compton Bench Ward, 850 N. 300 W., Farmington. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
