Allen I. Palmateer, 79, of Bartley, died at his home on Oct. 4, 2012, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on the family farm near Madison on Nov. 23, 1932, to Irvin and Alma (Grouteleushen) Palmateer. Allen attended school in Madison.
Allen was married to Carol Colleen Hoshor on March 12, 1953, and to this union two children were born, Charlene Louise and Bryan Allen. Carol preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 1989.
Allan served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a permanent member of the American Legion Post 245 of Bartley, serving over 40 years. He was member of the Eagles of North Platte.
Allen lived in Cozad, Gothenburg and retired to his home in Bartley. Allen drove a truck most of his life until retirement.
On June 9, 1990, Allen was married to Lenora (Johnson) Chancellor.
Allen enjoyed restoring and driving antique tractors, motorcycles, fishing and camping. He and Lenora spent winters in either Arizona or Texas. Allen was a member of the Kemper United Methodist Church, of Bartley.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora, of Bartley; daughter, Charlene (Ralph) Ogier, of Gothenburg; son, Bryan, of North Platte; stepdaughter, LaRena (Rick) Stuckwith, of South Bend, Ind.: three stepsons, Merlin Chancellor, of Denver, Colo., Joel (Brenda) Chancellor, of Curtis, Elgin (Heather) Chancellor, of McCook; two grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Oran (Paula), of Vail, Colo., Kenneth (Kathy), of Payton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carol; granddaughter, Whitney Buchholz-Lange; stepdaughter, Jenelda Chancellor; sister, Helene Koch; and brother, Victor Palmateer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with Pastor Lance Clay officiating. Inurnment will be at the Bartley Cemetery with military honors.
