HICKMAN COUNTY NEWS CENTERVILLE, TENN THURSDAY MARCH 25, 1926 OLDEST CITIZEN HICKMAN COUNTY DIES AT GRAHAM
Mrs. Patsy Rogers Plunkett Reaches Remarkable Age of 105 Years, Funeral Sunday at Residence.
Hickman county's oldest citizen, if not the oldest in Middle Tennessee, the venerable Mrs. Patsy Rogers Plunkett, quietly passed into eternity at her home at Graham on Saturday morning of last week, after having reached the remarkable age of one hundred and five years. The age of deceased is a matter of authentic record and until her death Mrs. Plunkett was actively interested in affairs of her home and community where she had lived and witnessed the changes a century and more of time has brought.
Although ill about two weeks, there was no suffering or pain the passing of the gentle spirit; only-------------at last took its toll of life.
Funeral services on Sunday afternoon were in charge of the Rev. Norris Beard, who paid a tribute to the life and service of this remarkable woman. Surviving are five children: Mrs. Mary P. Clark of Franklin, and Cloyde, Stephen, William, N.P. and Wash Plunkett of Graham. Seven childred had preceded her to the grave many years ago, as did the late husband and father, Alex Plunkett. She is also survived by a brother Dod Rogers whose feeble condition prevented his attending funeral services, a total of 56 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Commanding admiration and respect by unusual strength of character and high ideals of womanhood. Mrs. Plunkett was endeared to the hearts of the generations who have known her. She was a devout Christian character, quiet and unassuming, and her long life has been a blessing; her passing into eternity a benediction.
