In 1921 she graduated from Kewanee, Illinois High School. In 1925 she graduated from Milliken University of Decatur, Illinois. Doris earned a BA degree and majored in English. She lived with her uncle Ed and aunt Edith Jacobs during college at 349 South Oakland. In 1927 she taught English at Tuscola High School for four years.
She was active in the Methodist Episcopal Church, taught Sunday school and women’s Bible studies. She was very active in the Tuscola Women’s Club for over 60 years participating in the literature and Bible departments. Doris loved crossword puzzles, identifying birds, playing games, baking breads and pies. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a wealth of friends. She loved to host tea and dessert parties. She was proud to fly the American flag.
Her husband was killed in an auto accident in which she was severely injured.
