Shirley Lee Carden, 77, of Jesup, Ga., died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at her residence after an extended illness. The Cana, NC, native had lived in Wayne Co., Ga., the past 40 years, was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and the Puckett-McDonald Sunday School Class. She was a retired 5th grade teacher with the Wayne County Public School System and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors are her husband of 58 years: Stanley N. Carden, Sr. of Jesup, Ga., a daughter: Barbara Carden Hills of Jesup, Ga., 2 sons: Stanley (Bonnie) Carden, Jr. of Orange City, Fla., Mark (Linda) Carden of Jesup, Ga.; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy McLeod officiating. Interment will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Carden, Stanley Carden, Jr., Stanley Carden III, Richard Collins, Dewitt Drury, Joshua Carden, Will Blount and Josh Blount. Honorary pallbearers will be the Puckett-McDonald Sunday school class and Mary Lou Drury.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 P.M. prior to services at the church.
