Herman Luther Bailey, 84 of Varney, formerly of Baisden, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join his loved ones waiting for him in heaven, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, from his residence.
Born on May 6, 1926, at Iaeger, he was the son of the late Susie Dale Bailey.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lula Bell Cline Bailey; two sons: Zachary Jennings and Johnson "Biggon" Bailey; two brothers: Dale D. and Homer Bailey; and one sister, Marie Cassidy.
Herman was a loving husband, Daddy, and Papaw. He was a disabled coalminer, a US Navy Veteran of WWII; and a born again Christian, who bore the testimony of Jesus. He was an avid traveler, with extensive travels in Central America, and he loved Bluegrass music. He loved spending time with his wonderful family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his daughter, Etta Jo Bailey Edminston of Varney; his two sons: Dexter (Barbara) Bailey of Baisden and Rusty Bailey of Gilbert; hisseven wonderful grandchildren: April Perry of Baisden, Tommy Ryan "T J" May of Pikeville KY, D.J. Bailey of Baisden, Josh Bailey of Justice, Cortney Bailey of Huntington, Dalton Scott Bailey of Gilbert, and Cody Shaun Bailey of Matewan; his four precious great grandchildren: Bailey Perry, Donovan Bailey, Taya Marie Bailey, and Jayden Bailey; a special daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bailey of Justice; and a host of other dear family and friends. A special thank you to his two wonderful caregivers: Terri Fields and Penny Clay.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Friday, November 12th from 6to 9 pmwith a special service at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 13th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Mitchell officiating.
Military grave rite services will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141 of Belfry, KY.
Burial will follow in the Lester Cemetery at Baisden.
He will be carried to his final resting place by his sons and grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Gary Wayne Blankenship, Rex Allen Cline, Cody Cline, and Michael Cline.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
