KENT, Wash. — Marvin Sawyer of Kent, Wash. passed away on July 2 at the age of 90. Marvin was born on May 19, 1917 in Maple Hill, Kan. He moved to the San Luis Valley in Colorado where he met Dolora Thorne. They were married on Sept. 21, 1939 and spent 67 wonderful years together.
Marvin was a Colorado rancher, farmer, and auctioneer for 35 years. He retired in 1981, and he and Dolora moved to Kent to be near his children. He will be remembered for his love of salmon fishing, card playing with family and friends,and sharing the many colorful stories of his life.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Dolora; daughter, Kassy Wood; son, Tom Sawyer; brother Arlon Sawyer; grandchildren, John Wood, Julie Cook, T.J., Eric and Ryan Sawyer, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel in Burien, Wash. on Fri., July 6 at 11 a.m. Reception will be held at the Inn of Arbor Village in Kent at 2 p.m.
