LONGVIEW, Texas --- Services for Elwood Wayne Byars were Monday in Second Baptist Church, Jackson. Burial was in Jackson City Cemetery. Byars, 88, died Saturday, March 20, 1999. Born in Butts County, he was the son of the late Luther and Laura Mae McFalls Byars. He was retired from General Motors. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Longview, Second Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Bott Byars; children, Chris Byars, Kim Maxwell and Brook Brown, all of Marshallville, Texas; stepchildren, Baron Hall of Friendwood, Texas, Ashley Baker of Katy, Texas, Jessica Hall and Roy Hall, both of Longview; brother and sister, Allen Byars and Barbara Duke, both of Jackson; five grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
