Narcissa died two weeks following the birth of her last child, Narrissa. Narrissa died a few weeks later. As Narrissa was born in late July and the HOT Texas summers, it would have been likely that Uriah had difficulty finding milk for her.
Besides the newborn baby, there were six other children left without a mother. The oldest being Malissa who was barely twelve years old at the time.
In the 1870 Denton County, TX census, Uriah and Narcissa are living next door to her widowed mother and younger siblings.
