"Nicola Tunis, 62, 1327 Providence Road, died on Sunday in his home. He was one of Scranton's leading Italian citizens, having been a resident of North Scranton for forty-two years, nearly all of which time he was engaged in the mercantile business in the Bulls Head section.

Mr. Tunis retired from business about a year ago because of illness. He had been active in Republican politics up to the time of his illness. He was affiliated with St. Anthony's Church, being one of its founders, and also was a member of the Society Mango D'Aquino; a founder an d promoter of the building of the latter's hall on Providence road, and a member of Sons of Italy, Loggia Lancieri, Foresters of America, Conte Stella D;Italia and St. Rocco.

Surviving are his widow, Antonia; four sons, Samuel, Canio, John and Anthony; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday from the home with a requiem mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery."
