Eddie B. Hoggatt, 80, Stillwater, died Thursday Oct. 12, 2000, at the Stillwater Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Revs. Hartley Freeman and Leonne Worcester will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

Hoggatt was born Dec. 8, 1919, to John W. and Hattie (Burr) Hoggatt in Noble County. He married Sue Cottman in 1946 in Newkirk. He also was married to Ruby Trimble and Dorothy Cottman. Sue and Dorothy preceded him in death.

He attended schools in Perry. After his education, he joined the U.S. Army where he served with Gen. George S. Patton's Third Army as a Tank Commander in the European Theater during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. At the completion of the war, he was honorably discharged and returned to the family farm.

He later worked at Fox Lumber Company and Bob Barnes Automobile dealership. In 1955, he began employment with Bob Burk Oil Company as Assistant General Manager, retiring in 1984 after 29 years. He greatly enjoyed dominoes and watching sporting events. He was a member of the Perkins Christian Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Aurelia J. Thompson; one grandson, Duane Childers; his first wife and third wife.

He is survived by one son, Dale Childers and wife Barbara Kay, Stillwater; two grandchildren, Kevin Childers and wife Jacque, Stillwater; Debbie Lomax and husband David, Marietta, Ga.; four great grandchildren; niece, Sandy Cook and husband Charles, Broken Arrow; nephew, Larry Thompson and wife Dana, St. Louis, Mo.; step-nephews, Gerald Thompson, Arlington, Texas; Gordon Thompson and wife Jo Ann, Locust Grove; great nieces, Janie Dale, Claremore; Angela Morgan, Skiatook; Amie Payne, Skiatook; great nephews, Brian Thompson, Tulsa; and Scott Thompson, Tulsa.

Honorary pallbearers are Bob Burk, Kevin Childers and Jeff Bales.
