Died. Miss Helen Maria Montgomery.

At the family residence, No. 147 Homochitto Street at 10:45 o'clock P.M., Sunday, August 2nd, 1925, Miss Helen Maria Montgomery, daughter of the late Eli Montgomery and Mrs. Maria Miller Montgomery. The funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Monday, Aug. 3rd 1925, at 4 o'clock P.M. Rev. George D. Booth officiated. Natchez, Miss, August 4th 1925.


Miss Helen Maria Montgomery ________quietly into the "long _________at remaineth for the children of God on Sunday evening at ten thirty o'clock at the Montgomery home in Homochitto Street. She has been a patient and uncomplaining sufferer for many months. Possessing a bright sunny disposition and a great desire to be of service to others. Miss Montgomery had lived a life of great usefulness and simple beauty. Quietly, unostentatiously and effectively she went about doing good and there are many who rise up to call her blessed. All who knew her loved her and her passing has brought sorrow to many hearts.

Miss Montgomery was born in Natchez in 1843 and was the daughter of Eli Montgomery of South Carolina and Mrs. Maria Miller Montgomery of St. Francisville, Louisiana. For most of her life she resided at Magnolia Vale with Mr. F.F. Learned and his family. Following his death, she returned to the old family home in Homochitto Street. She is survived by two sisters, Miss Elizabeth and Mary Montgomery as well as a large number of near relatives.

Funeral services were held in the First Presbyterian Church on Monday Afternon at four o'clock conducted by her pastor Rev. George D. Both. Beautiful floral offerings attested the love of her friends. The pallbearers were Mesers A.J. Postlwaite, Charles Henry, Ollie Ham___, W.A. Adams, Ferriday Byrnes and Allen Bowie. Interment was made in the family plot in the City Cemetery.
