Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Morrison Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Alberta L. Morgan, who died last Thursday, March 8, aged 68, at the St. Helena Sanitarian and Hospital, after an extended illness. The services were conducted by the Rev. Elmer Stephens, pastor of the First Baptist Church, of which Mrs. Morgan was an active member.
Six of Mrs. Morgan's nephews acted as pallbearers at the funeral: Charles Oliver, Jay P. Oliver, Todd Galusha, James Galusha, Earl Fowler and James Waldon.
Burial was in the family plot in St. Helena Public Cemetery.
Mrs. Morgan and her husband Edward. C. Morgan had been residents of St. Helena since 1945 when they come here after living in Yuma, Arizona for 27 years.
Mrs Morgan was born in Thornton, Texas. She lived in Los Angeles before her marriage to Mr. Morgan, and was for several years an office nurse for Los Angeles physician.
She is survived by her husband, and by twelve brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nora Green, Mrs. Jimmy Cooper, Mrs. Letha Ainsworth, Mrs, Jewell Kitchens, Mrs. Edith Gray, Charles Winthrop and J.T. Winthrop, all of Lufkin, Texas and Francis Ogier of Haywood, Curtis Woodland of Cambria Pines, and Clark Woodland of San Diego.
She was the daughter of Clara Anne Goodlife (died 31 AUG 1895) and she was also the sister of Harvey Fred, Edwin Alfred (16 NOV 1878), Laura ( 6 DEC 1881), Jimmie Ezell (5 APR 1893-NOV 1983), Mary (18 AUG 1885), Emma Clara (28 JAN 1887-27 JUN 1957), Maude Lucendy (13 JAN 1889), Nora Ester (26 JAN 1891)
