Reneta Ferne McLain Hallett
Jan 18,1925-Jan 2,2000

Reneta Fern Hallett was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Elsie, Neb., to Edgar and Mary McLain. Reneta was the eldest of 11 children. She attended the Blanche School, north of Wauneta, through the 8th grade. Later her family moved to the Imperial area where Reneta resided the rest of her life. Reneta married John Hallett Aug. 18, 1939. To this union six children were born. Reneta was a hard worker and helped her husband support their family through poverty and hard times. When her grandchildren came along, she enjoyed being with them, watching them grow and have families of their own. Reneta worked at various jobs in the community, but retired from housekeeping at the Imperial Manor. She remained independent and enjoyed visiting her family and friends. Reneta had a very special friendship with Ms. LaVerna Fanning and even when Reneta could no longer live independently and had to move into the Imperial Manor, their bond remained steadfast. They were seen together almost daily traveling to the farm or all around the community visiting friends or shopping. They especially enjoyed their trip to the Black Hills. Reneta's love for her Lord and family gave her the strength and courage to face life's hardships. Our memories of her life and love for us will never be forgotten. Reneta passed away Jan. 1, 2000, at the Imperial Manor. She was 74 years of age. Reneta was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1974, one infant son Robert and an infant granddaughter Doris Faye Scarrow. Funeral services for Reneta were held Jan. 5, 2000, at the Westside Church of Christ, Imperial. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
