Only son of Harry Armitage Conant and Mary Thurber Conant. At the age of nineteen, he got malarial fever and suffered for eight weeks, when blood poison set in. He was a young man of much promise; being born into a wealthy family, a student at Princeton College, and a person of very fine manners. He was well liked for his love of kindness to nature, and his warm hearted generosity. The funeral took place at the Conant home.

Horace was laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery.
