Frank Harrison Ammons, 61, of the Watauga community died Wednesday, August 8, after a period of declining health.
A native of Swain County, he was a son of the late John and Sarah Edwards Ammons. A member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, he was retired from Frankin Mineral Products Co.
Surviving are the wife, Birdell McMahan Ammons, fours sons, Ellis, Bruce and Lewis Ammons of Frnaklin and Ralph Ammons of Griffin, Ga.; a daughter Mrs. Willard A. Browning of Franklin, Roy and Albert Ammons of Waynesville; three sisters, Lassie Dean, Rachel Cook and Pollie Foster of Franklin; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday in the chapel of Bryant Funeral Home. The Revs. Bill Bruton, Wallace Tallent and Jud Duvall officiated and pallbearers were grandsons and nephews, Ricky, Harry, Harold, Kenneth and Douglas Ammons and Bobby McMahan. Burial was in Ridgecrest Baptist Church Cemetery.
