Mary Anna Buelow, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Hoefs, was born in Iron Ridge, Dodge County, Wisconsin, on September 6, 1869.
Her childhood was spent in Loganville, where she was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran church.
On April 19, 1891, she was united in marriage to Henry A. Buelow, which union was blessed with six children, of whom one daughter preceded her mother in death.
Mrs. Buelow had been in failing health for ten years, and for the past year had been cared for by her stepdaughter, Mrs. Belle Gust of Baraboo, at whose home she passed away on February 25, 1941, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 16 days.
Surviving her are: Mrs. R. H. Miller, Mrs. Forest Carpenter, Henry Buelow, Leo Buelow, and Rex Buelow, and also a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gust; besides three grandchildren and by the following brothers and sisters: William Hoefs of Los Angeles, Calif., Frank Hoefs of Lost Angeles, Calif., Frank Hoefs of Middleton, Mrs. Amanda Eastman of Hanover, Ill., Robert Hoefs, Mrs. Ella Niebuhr, Miss Minnie Hoefs and John Hoefs, all of Reedsburg; besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Buelow was a member of St. John's Lutheran church in this city for almost 50 years. For 27 years she was treasurer of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon, March 1, at 1:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Carpenter, and at 2 o'clock at the St. John's Lutheran church, where the Rev. H. F. Leschensky officiated. Burial was made in the St. John's Lutheran cemetery.
Among those from away who attended the last rites were: Rex Buelow of Camp Livingston, La.; Mrs. R. H. Miller of Alexandria, La.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Beulow, Milwaukee; Jean Miller, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Gust and son; Mrs. May Elliot, Baraboo; Mrs. Amanda Eastman, Hanover, Illinois; Frank Hoefs, and Mrs. O. Goulet and daughter, Middleton; L. R. Carpenter, Mrs. E. Pridat, Mrs. L. Rahn and son, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. F. Hoefs, Mrs. H. Paff, Mrs. G. Hoefs, Henry Hoefs, Kendall; and Mr. and Mrs. E. Reynolds, Lake Dalton.
