Philip Flanders, the son of Richard C. Flanders and Rachel Colby, was born
in South Hampton, August 30, 1786. When seventeen years old, he came to
Hopkinton, locating on the so called Jewett road, where he lived until his
death, being by occupation a farmer.
In 1834, he was a selectman of Hopkinton.
In 1815, April 11, Mr. Flanders married Sarah Smith, daughter of Moody
Smith and Hannah Quimby, of Hopkinton. They had five children,--Parker M.,
born January 26, 1816; Hannah born January 30, 1818; Sarah Ann, born June 3,
1821; Jonathan, born October 16, 1823; Philip, born September 24, 1827.
Mr. Flanders died November 13, 1872; his wife, March 19, 1883, aged 96. From a book called "Life and Times in Hopkinton, N. H. in three parts"
