Sister Josepheda Des Rochers, age 86, a member of the Franciscan Sisters
of Christian Charity, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 17, 2003, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Garden, Mich., daughter of the late Joseph
and Elizabeth Lambert Des Rochers. The former Iva Des Rochers entered
the convent in 1931 and professed her vows in 1936. Sister Josepheda
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc,
and a Master of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America,
Washington, D.C. Sister Josepheda served as a teacher at St. Joseph,
Green Bay; St. Gabriel, Neenah; Xavier High School, Appleton; Holy
Family College and Silver Lake College, Manitowoc; Roncalli High School,
Manitowoc; Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha, all of Wisconsin;
St. Ann, Menominee; St. Anne, Escanaba, St. Ambrose, Ironwood, all of
Michigan; and St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio. She also served as the
Directress of Postulants at the Motherhouse. She retired in 1993 and has
been a resident of St. Rita Health Center since 1994. She is a member of
the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; and a
brother-in-law: Robert Berg, Green Bay. Nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends also survive.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday where a prayer service will be held
at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
